Gordon Trimble has served Waikiki, Ala Moana, Kaka'ako, Chinatown, Downtown, and Palama as state Senator for six years.
Gordon grew up on an avocado farm in Fallbrook, CA after his father left his job as a chemist at Shell Chemicals to get in touch with the earth. Gordon's older brother, Charlie, and Gordon enjoyed exploring nearby woods in their childhood. Raised on a tradition of hard work and service, Gordon became an Eagle Scout before deciding to attend Rutgers University in New Jersey.
Gordon graduated from college in 1966. In this period of global strife, Gordon chose to serve as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Philippines. It was in Legazpi that Gordon met and courted his future wife, Sonia. They married in 1969 before returning to the United States.
Since then, Gordon and Sonia called Honolulu “home.” As a young family, they moved from rental to rental while working to get on their feet. Their son, Robert, was born in 1970. In 1971, Gordon attained his Master Degree in Economics and continued teaching at Chaminade University and the University of Hawaii at Manoa until 1974. Robbie grew up at Kahala Elementary School and graduated from St. Louis School in 1988.
Gordon spent 26 years working for the State of Hawaii's Department of Planning and Economic Development
(now, Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism). As an economist, his expertise is focused on transportation economics, specializing in foreign trade zones. Gordon administered the Foreign Trade Zone program at Pier 2 for six and a half years before his retirement in 2000.
It took two years for Gordon to decide to run for office.
Gordon wanted to make Hawaii better by growing the economy from the inside out. By providing the voters of his district with a choice of candidates, his district received representation independent of special interest groups in the form of a knowledgeable, experienced, well-reasoned Senator. Gordon has never and will never accept a Corporate or Union contribution. Gordon's unfettered voice make him the best candidate for Senator of Palama, Chinatown, Downtown, Kaka'ako, Ala Moana and Waikiki. Gordon Trimble humbly asks for your vote for re-election in the state Senate.
